There has been some talk of late encouraging businesses in the audio video industry to consider taking “Just In Time” seriously as a way to improve.  One of the tenets of JIT is, “don’t hide problems with inventory”.  Inventory, beyond a minimum amount to provide good service, is bad.  It ties up revenue.  Inventory has additional costs in storing, tracking, and taxes.  And then there is Murphy.  If you need white, all you will have on hand is black.  If you need 10, you will only have 9 in stock…but they come in packs of 25, so you’ll have to order 25 to get 1.  The point is that hiding the problem of poor planning with inventory doesn’t alleviate a problem; it just transfers it to a different area.  In these tight economic times, the companies that will survive are the ones that address each problem and solve it at its core.

Ain’t it the truth! Worse is when you can’t find the configuration you need in one plate and you have to settle for a set of plates just to get all the connections you need… AAAAARRRGGHHHH.
